Day 4
Went outside for a plainair. Also tried to make this about mixing fast and tried atmospheric perspective after watching the lessons about it.
I was really feeling like adding more variety to the masses but decided to stop here for this exercise. I’ll maybe leave detailing to when I’m more satisfied with the colors of the masses.
Amazing sketches! It makes me remember how much we learn with sketch books, and also that it’s time for me to dust mine and get back at sketching stuff.
Day 3
Today I decided to rework a painting I did a while ago. I never liked it and never knew why, now I kind of know, so I did a sketch to try a different set of colors. Better but not quite there yet, I’ll try another sketch before reworking the actual canvas. Also pushed myself to be as fast as I could, and it was interesting to see that most of my lingering was actually not changing much in the result.
The first is the new color scheme, the second the painting I dislike. Critiques and suggestions will be much appreciated!
nice! Very consistent work! Your shapes look great! I also have not checked the russian drawing course yet, but I’ll put that on the bucket list! Looking forward to following your development

wow, that’s a really interesting challenge! I loved the ones in which you included your hand holding the bone!
Thank you Birgith and Joshua! Yeah, I’ve been meaning to do that for a while now, and I’m glad that the weather is finally good for pleinair!
Day 002, finished identifying the masses in the church reference photo, and here it is:
Happy with the first layer, I feel it is quite organized, missing some variations and gradations I’ll try adding later

Wow, amazing details in that foot! Also loved that you just restarted your cat drawing from scratch. It’s something I should learn too! Looking forward to where you’ll get to with the new cat drawing! I’ll use it as inspiration to paint my cat sometime soon!
Your entries look great! I particularly liked where you got with those duck studies, the shapes are working and the shades in the duck head by the corner do give a nice volume to it!
