Yeah, way better with the daylight! And amazing planes work. I’m getting really intetested in this face planes study, maybe I’ll also take this course later on. Anyways, nice work with the face planes, it helped me understand a face a bit better

Thank you Lucero 😊
Day 6(2)
Managed to make a color study out of it, posting today since couldn’t take a decent picture last night. Critiques are welcomed. That was my first try of a sunset light effect

Wow, thank you Mangu, some really interesting points there! I knew something was bothering me with this orange and table tangent but wasn’t quite sure how to go about it. In fact in the original composiotion the orange was slightly bigger making this tangent less obvious, but I ended up eating the borders a bit with the background to fix the shape and didn’t realize the change in time.
Yeah, I like the idea of maybe having the orange a bit behind the lemon, it would be also a nice contrast and as you said give a better sence of depth.
Now that you mentioned the ellipse perspective issue I’ll never be able to look at this painting without noticing it hahaha.
That said I will probably come up with another layer for this to try and get the ellipses right and move the table edge a bit down. I don’t think I’ll mess with the placements now, but if I’m feeling bold maybe I’ll add darker object behind the lemon or orange for the depth, but I’ll probably not risk it.
Thanks again Mangu, you gave me a lot to think about!
Wow! This page is beautiful! Only suggestion I could leave is maybe take out a bit of the contrast in the bigger left hand, the one in the bottom right corner of the page. I say that because the same contrast is so subtle in the other amplified hand, and it feels like the fingers fit a bit better together like this. Anyway, your challenge is looking great overall, looking forward for your next days!
April 23, 2020 at 3:15 pm in reply to: [COMPLETED] Joshua’s 100 Day Challenge: 1 Daily Drawing from Imagination #488123Amazing poses! I wouldn’t know how to critique these amazing drawings but I would like to leave a suggestion. Since your drawing from imagination, I think it could be a bit more challenging to add reflective surfaces close to these poses such as mirrors, metals or ponds. It would be interesting to see the poses develop through those different angles and maybe even distortions
Nice work, your shapes seem to be improving, and very nice shadow work! Regarding day 10 I’m under the impression that there’s something of with the up right corner of your cube.
Day 6
Feeling a bit sick today, so I couldn’t really go out to paint. So instead I watched the lessons regarding sky and some about light effects and decided to sketch an imaginary field on a sunset light effect. Sketching this made me feel a little better so maybe I’ll try a colored sketch with some paints. If I end up doing it today I’ll post it here too
April 22, 2020 at 10:07 pm in reply to: Zach’s 100 Day Challenge: 10 Daily Value Study Thumbnails #486567Wow Zach! Amazing value studies! On day 12 I feel the overall value in his left shoulder is a bit of as it kind of jumps out of the body or as if his shoulder was darker then the rest of the body. Maybe it was intentional. Anyways, looking forward to seeing your next days, really inspiring challenge 👌🏼
April 22, 2020 at 9:57 pm in reply to: Lucas’s 100 day challenge : all things portraiture :) #486566From day 13. Wow! Really impressive face plans, really helps me understanding how lights and shadows happen on a face! Could you recommend a course to look for this technique? Anyway, great progress, can’t wait to see where you’ll get in the end of the 100 days
