Very cool skulls Shazad! I love the one from day 16! Seems like you’re gonna know each bone before this is over

Thanks Shazad and Birgit for the incentive!
Thanks a lot for the ideas Sara! I agree it could definitely use more light in the clouds and tree in the foreground. Regarding filling up the rest of the trees, I don’t think I’ll actually do that, bit I wonder what you meant. The plan was to just represent a bit of trunk since they’re leafless right now in the beginning of spring. But maybe I should signal better their masses? It was really hard for me to decide on whay to do with them since the colors and values were so close between the branches and the background flat plan. I like the cow a bit, I think there’s maybe to much contrast in it. I guess I see what you mean regarding anatomy, but I’ll save this regard to next experiences. Thanks again for taking the time to critique, it was really helpful!
About day 11, I totally recognise the feeling. I think that when we detach a bit from our expectations on the final result we can then appreciate the growth that came along the whole process.
Regarding day 12, are those Lost Kingdom characters? Nice sketches! Really expressive
Well, I for one like to pay close attention to each gesture and color mixed by the instructor while listening to everything attentively. Then I would draw something related to that after the lessons, or do the assignments. If I do it together with the instructor I’ll end up losing attention somewhere, so I prefer to do those separately. Nice to see different approaches though
Nice challenge, and good start! Looking forward to see the result of it!
Wow Annie, that does sound wild. I think you’re right that the contrast would actually improve against the objects in the foreground, however, I think I’ll try less of a contrast between the table and the wall, and more of a value change. Then maybe turn everything closer to the wall color than the table. Thank you for your input!
Thanks Joshua, for your input. Yeah, I see what you mean, this even spacing makes me feel the positioning is kind of symmetric, which is quite boring. Yeah, I can imagine it being more dynamic, but I’ll reserve it to my next still life. Yes, also agree about the colors, this I think I’ll try changing in a next layer for this one. Now that I’m looking at the shadows in my table I see a nice gradation I could have explored but didn’t, yet.
Wow, I love the mouth in it, great job!
