Looking forward to see more of it! Seems like your on a good start
Thanks for the very good critique Shazad. Yeah, those details where really premature given that I wasn’t satisfied with the colors yet, and maybe they should have less of a contrast if they should happen. I also agree with you about the colors of the sky mainly, and the sea I think should be something between the value in the painting and the color in the sketch. My main problem with this sketch is that the sky is to dark and green, and I started from the sky and tried to base the rest of it on it, hence everything being so dark. But I do think it showed me a way to go with this painting, I’ll probably make another sketch before moving forward
Thanks Joshua! Looks way better now
Wow! I loved your giraffe study!
Thanks Joshua! Yeah, I’m really loving each lesson! So glad the weather has been good the last couple days, so I can try this stuff out there.
Thanks a lot! The cheek lines now that you mention, are really a bit too strong, and give it a feeling of a marionette cheek. I think it could also use a bit more of contrast everywhere to match the eyes
Please click in the image to see it full resolution.
Hi Franco! I would suggest working a bit more on the eyes. Add some contrast there like making the sclera a bit more greyish with highlights and adding highlights to the pupils. That will make it more lively I hope!
Hi NicBritt! Thanks for the touch. I feel a bit like you do too! I feel it is all to pale. I’ll certainly try with a bit more of contrast on next portaits!
Also, please click on the photo to open the good resolution image. This one showing is really low resolution. It’s not supposed to be THAT blurry haha
Wow! Amazing reflections and glass! If I may, I would suggest popping up a bit more the foreground, maybe by darkening the background a little bit, and giving some highlights, mainly in the pear.
April 22, 2020 at 2:42 am in reply to: Self Portrait – An Anxious Man (after Courbet) – Critique please #485080Wow, amazing light effects! I could say I couldn’t quite grasp what’s going on in the right hand and in the left forearm. Is that suggesting anxious movement? If so maybe the onde in the right hand could be more subtle
Hey all. I wish I had read this earlier. I made several posts of the same images to my topic and now it’s overcrowded with the same day and I can’t seem to find a delete option for the exceeding posts. Could I get any help? The topic is André’s 100 day challenge. Thanks in advance!

April 21, 2020 at 6:08 pm in reply to: [COMPLETED] Joshua’s 100 Day Challenge: 1 Daily Drawing from Imagination #484654Wow, then drawing bodies from imagination might come really easy for you! These figures look amazing! Do you think a lot about anatomy when doing that or by now do you already kind of know how things should go by heart?
