April 11, 2020 at 11:15 am in reply to: [COMPLETED] Birgith’s 100 Day Challenge: Still life painting #462894A good idea for me to make such small sketches before starting a still life painting. I usually move the objects around looking through a little frame I have cut out of a cardboard, thus being able to see what scenes I like most.

Very good drawings

April 9, 2020 at 11:59 pm in reply to: [COMPLETED] Birgith’s 100 Day Challenge: Still life painting #459388To Lucero: I prefer acrylic paint before oil, because I can clean my brushes with water. Besides I avoid breathing in solvents. I found the colours of earlier acrylics showy. However, nowadays I have no problems with the colours, neither mixing myself or buying already mixed colours. Some of the acrylics dry very quickly. That may have advantages. Some dry more slowly. For my newest paintings I have used Golden Open, which dries more slowly. I find this type more convenient as it gives a more oil painting like image. There are several media you can add to the acrylics to get different effects.
I like your sketches. Looking forward to see more.

I hope I will be able to draw and paint correctly from my imagination some time. I have noticed there are several drawing courses at NMA with focus on the human body. I plan to follow most of these, hoping to improve my skills.
