Lucero: for sure man. I find it super inspiring aswell seeing all the new posts here everyday.
Ramona: Nope i started by hatching straight in the background actually but then decided to go around the whole thing (thought it would look cool xD). also thanks for the tip 🙂
Paul: Thanks dude 🙂 yeah im on a bit of a mission man, really trying to push myself. and yes i’ve watched almost all the beginner head drawing series, love steve huston he seems like such a chill guy. i also really like glenn vilppu. its so awesome watching him draw.
Josseline: Thats what i’m hoping. and after i’m “comfortable” with the head its on to the figure xD

did some studies in my sketchbook on the nose and eyes. really trying to focus on the form and structure. the first one is from charles hu’s video on the facial features, the second from a reference (i personally am not happy with that one at all xD),
the third page was from imagination, and the fourth from reference again, this one i went and rendered a little too.
last one is in graphite, the others in colouring pencil.

You’re definitely right there it will never get boring as u can always get better.
Paul: thank you, 21cmWx30cmH or 8.27 × 11.69 inches. however most of the drawings i’ve posted are on newsprint that i cut myself (roughly 40cm x 50cm)
April 10, 2020 at 6:01 pm in reply to: Lucas’s 100 day challenge : all things portraiture :) #461540nope haven’t watched that one yet, will have to check it out one of these days. thanks for the tip. i tried to show the reflected light on his lower jaw, probably should have included the reference image, might be a bit confusing haha.
ah same here, im very new. i used to mainly just draw graffiti lettering and some cartoony stuff. Only started really looking into the more finer side of art about 6 months ago. i have a loooong journey ahead xD.

A study of Giuliano de’ Medici by Michelangelo. from the reference images on nma. I found this very fun to draw from a plaster cast. i struggled with the hair alot, wasnt really sure how to draw it at all so just rolled with it and drew what i felt.
started it late last night and finished it this morning. probly spent about 2 hours in total. the fact it is a plaster cast really helped me to see the shadows and forms though. wish i could draw it from life but i guess pictures will have to for now.
April 10, 2020 at 5:20 pm in reply to: Lucas’s 100 day challenge : all things portraiture :) #461498thanks lucero and josseline. yes i will probably do some facial feature studies in the next few days. I do think of the eyes that way and always draw the ball in the socket and try to wrap the lid around it but I really struggle to get it to look like what I’m thinking. hopefully some studies will help.
these are awesome man. looking forward to seeing more.
April 9, 2020 at 10:58 pm in reply to: Lucero’s 100 Day Challenge: Draw, and Don’t Waste Time #459339these are looking good and i find that concept so hard to execute aswell Lucero. it looks so simple when u watch experienced people do it lol
