Great start 👏🏻 keep the momentum going 💪🏻
Day 16. My attempt at recreating del Sarto’s approach to Homer’s bust, with a similar bust at a different angle and without referencing del sarto.. except for the source material in my memory

Yeah they are from The Last Kingdom.
I find it very difficult to focus on weekdays. I’m hoping that forcing myself to draw everyday will make it easier. Accepting that I kinda suck at drawing sometimes also makes it easier 😅
Do you have any tips?
I’m thinking of forming a routine to ease myself out of the mental fog.
Perhaps copying master drawings. Something that yields decent results without a terrible amount of thought.
Then i can tackle something that requires more decision making
Like drawing from a model or anatomy
Day 12
Quick broad stroke charcoal sketches.
Nothing special here just some quick sketches using the side of the pencil
I’ll try to do something better tomorrow

Day number 11.
I am realizing that in order to maintain persistence, it is important to detatch myself from the end result and focus on the process. In the process is where I find my sticking points. It is also where I confront my inability to focus on small and large details resulting in suboptimal drawings. It is where I can take control of my mind, and put effort into becoming a better draftsman, even if its one day at a time.

The paper! I prefer smooth tonal application. This paper would be ok if i was doing obvious hatching
Lol. Sorry.
I have some quarrels with the piece, however minor.
Yeah…. I dont like it :/ I used to draw on marker paper which is super smooth like newsprint, but is achievable and wont tear as easily.
I just got some strathmore toned paper in that has a smoother texture 👍🏻

And I’m using almost the same materials, except a shammy and my finger for blending 🙌🏻
