This composition course looks interesting! Keep up the hard work!
Hey Lucas… I like the experimentation in different media! I want to get a good fountain pen myself. What pen did you get, and do you like it?
Days 28-30 | Gouache Draped Figure Experiment – Reference: Lillias
This is my first experiment painting in gouache. I’ve used a white gouache tube with some watercolors over the past few weeks… but I actually used a few gouache paint colors for this one. Had to call it quits after 3 sessions, but got a better feel for some of the paint application. Hoping to pick up a little speed for the next one!

I planning to do some more ballpoint for figure study going forward… or at least until my pen runs out!

I kind of lost a little steam with this approach… Still trying to get a good feel for the angle I have to use with a liner pen and the inability to do light strokes. It was a good exercise and I think I’ll return to it after some more practice with a more forgiving medium.
Day 22 | Ink Figure Practice – Reference: Tiffiney
I’m trying to gain some agility and expressiveness with pen and ink. Without an eraser, it’s difficult to keep the drawing clean… I need tons more practice at this, but I think it will help bring a greater level of mindfulness to my process and help my drawing skills with other media.
Wow… Hey, thanks from a fellow Oregonian! That means a lot because I really admire the strategy you are following on your thread… I think you have put yourself in the fast lane for growth!
I feel like I have made several strides in the past three weeks through daily practice and look forward to watching your progress… maybe I’ll get some ideas. 🙂
