I want to develop some caricature skills as the head studies continue. I was surprised by the necessary observation of eccentricities, and the design work involved in the subsequent reconstruction of the face. I had fun with it and intend to explore some more angles and subjects as I continue.

May 27, 2020 at 9:30 am #554079Wow… Hey, thanks from a fellow Oregonian! That means a lot because I really admire the strategy you are following on your thread… I think you have put yourself in the fast lane for growth!
I feel like I have made several strides in the past three weeks through daily practice and look forward to watching your progress… maybe I’ll get some ideas. 🙂

I’m trying to gain some agility and expressiveness with pen and ink. Without an eraser, it’s difficult to keep the drawing clean… I need tons more practice at this, but I think it will help bring a greater level of mindfulness to my process and help my drawing skills with other media.

I kind of lost a little steam with this approach… Still trying to get a good feel for the angle I have to use with a liner pen and the inability to do light strokes. It was a good exercise and I think I’ll return to it after some more practice with a more forgiving medium.
