In terms of challenges and critique, maybe NMA could set up a 30 (just a example) day Challenge about a specific topic from time to time. In the thread of the challenge people could also submit questions related to this topic.
The point wouldn’t be a price but a livestream in which the instructor could pick some of the entrys and questions in advance. He/She could use the chosen entrys and questions to show typical pitfalls about that topic.
I don’t know if that’s to much but I thought that way the instructor doesn’t need to react to questions but could organize the information in his/her own words in advance.
Hi and welcome Molly!
Trying to improve is always a good goal and your students will also benefit from your new learned skills.
Oh and I’m sure that your daughter -even while being just one year- would also like to help and leave one or two signs on your paintings when you don’t pay attention.
I think it has something to do with posting more than one picture. Yesterday both post’s where I tried to post more than one picture weren’t visible until later today.
An hour ago I posted my Day 2 entry for my challenge, where I particularly made sure all pictures together were under 5 mb. Since it doesn’t show up I assume it has to be approved.
If the problems cause isn’t posting more than one picture it would be nice if you at least could consider implementing a notification that let’s you know that your post went through.

The first three are exercises from the beginner and the Russian academic drawing course. The last three are from the perspective course. I already finished the first chapter a few days ago, now I wanted to revisit the principles and check what stuck before I start the second chapter.

Hi Lucas,
I think you are on the right track. Especially when looking/comparing your portrait from day 59 to your head construction from today. Your portrait overall looks pretty good but if it lacks something I think it’s more structure. So I imagine if you continue to practise your structure and anatomy knowledge you could really elevate your work to the next level!
Keep it up!
Hey Aj,
what I really like about your drawings is that you are really diving into it and are putting in a lot of effort.
My suggestion would be -particularly because of your mentioned goals of improving your observational skills and portraying of emoitions- to throw in some quick gesture studys. If you are not doing these already they are really good to loosen up and to get a sense for movement. Likewise they are a good tool to get some mileage and therefore getting a intuitive feel for proportions.
Keep it up!
Thank you Joshua & Alex
That’s at least what I hoped for when writing it, so that’s good.
If it would be easy I think much more people would go for it. In terms of starting from scratch I just thought continuing on a house without a solid foundation isn’t the best idea 🙂
I still need to figure out the goals and overall structure of my 100 day challenge but I will post it I promise!
Thanks again to both of you.
Hi Alex,
I can really relate to what you are saying. That’s basically what I aim to achieve for myself. For me and my personal situation art school wasn’t even possible because it isn’t/wasn’t affordable for me. Besides that most schools I researched are in generel like what you are describing and not really places where you learn what you need for what you want to do …
So I really hope that you, or even better both of us are getting some progress towards our goals through NMA.
