Day 33. Sorry for the very long hiatus, but I’ve been extremely busy and didn’t want to post low quality stuff on here. Today is the first day I’ve had in quite a while where I had time to put in some effort. Hopefully, I can be more consistent now that things have slowed down a bit. Here is a block in for a study of a realist portrait of a woman with a hat and fur scarf. I can’t remember the artist. I did the block in with crayon only. I’m trying to get comfortable with no underdrawings.
September 28, 2020 at 11:32 am in reply to: Deborah’s 100 Days of People and Perspective Drawing #781325Really nice work Deborah 🙂. I also love Albrecht Durer’s work. I went to a museum about 10 years ago where they had a collection of his woodcut prints. Amazing how much detail went into those.
Thanks Deborah 🙂. Yes, I could add more layers once dry. The only problem is all the layers will activate and blend together if they get wet because I’m using Neocolor II. The only ways around this is to use a fixative between layers or use Neocolor I on the top because they are not water soluble. I do like the idea of building up textures in true mixed media style.
Thank you Deborah. Yes, my new job is going well. I’ve just been too mentally tired at night to put in the effort I need to improve. Hopefully, I’ll have more time this weekend to really focus on art.

September 18, 2020 at 10:47 pm in reply to: Christopher’s 100 Day Challenge: Building A Solid Foundation #768012Congratulations Christopher. Awesome work. I’m glad this challenge has helped you become more confident in your art. I see a lot of talent and dedication. Keep it up 🙂.
Thank you Deborah and Christopher. I haven’t had as much time recently to devote to art, but I’ve been trying to improve my observational skills as much as possible throughout each day regarding faces, shapes, and colors. I’m going to try to catch up with some new works this weekend. Thanks for the encouragement 🙂.

When I do a quick glance at this one, there is maybe something a bit off about the chin? I’m not an expert of course, but that’s the impression that I got. Keep up the good work 🙂.
