Hi Myriam, I really enjoy the effort in your work and the variety of approaches and mediums. #12 is my favorite so far. I think you’re strength is capturing emotion especially in the eyes. I would like to see how you would approach a series of heads with an emphasis on planes and plane definitions. It would help make your heads feel more 3d and stronger.

Hello! This is a man I found in the internet, amazing face! The photo is in here, so you can know the story behind it.

I couldn’t get down the bone structure as I well as I wanted to.
(Graphite mostly, some charcoal, don’t know how much time, four, five hours…? 😓)

Hi everyone!
This is from a photo I found on the Internet by Gemmy Woud-Binnendijk.
I used HB and 6B graphite pencils and just a bit of charcoal to get the darks in the veil. Should I have darkened more other areas, like the shadows on her face for example? The pearls are messy and I don’t like them, but I’m leaving it like that for now.June 1, 2020 at 11:12 am #562831Thank you so much Chris! Your comment means a lot to me. On the one hand because nobody had told me before that I had any strength at all in anything related to drawing! I have no feedback in this, just my family (who loves even a doodle😅). On the other hand because I love your classes and how you think of a metaphor before starting a portrait, and how you make people feel confident and lose their fear. For example, I started oil painting thanks to you! And I also love how you draw, very stylish and 😎 cool. Thank you! 🙏🏼

The ear is too small, among other things. Jane Goodall is resting her head on her hands and that makes some creases in her chin skin. Should have I drawn less wrinkles? Is the back of the skull too small? Are the eyes too separated from each other?? Why didn’t I capture the right inclination of her face? … I always have too many questions. Although my first one right after drawing anything is always: Does it make me cringe? Normally, I like it right away. But it usually makes me cringe (a lot) the following day.
This one took me too long, maybe four or five hours! I changed the ear three times and still is wrong. I used graphite (B and HB and 6B) and charcoal also.
See you tomorrow!June 3, 2020 at 11:22 am #566430#22
Hello everyone!
I wasn’t in the mood for drawing today because yesterday I spent so much time with the Jane Goodall portrait. But then I remembered this challenge and this forum which is visited by artists with very useful opinions and drew this little girl. It is from a photograph by Sebastião Salgado. This time, it took me only about half an hour. I think I could have ended it even earlier and the result would probably have been better.

Hello, this is my drawing for today, from another photograph by Sebastião Salgado. It’s a kid scared of the world. You can see the distrust in his eyes. He has probably seen too much pain and injustice around him. I hope you can see it in the drawing too! I used Charcoal. It took me about an hour.
