Hi Carlos, this is great thanks – You are  backing up my thinking that I need to go a bit darker in the shadows to get some better contrast – so thanks for that.

I am loving the OREO cookie idea, this is really cool – I know I shall be much too cautious to go straight for some black cookie colour, so mine will probably look more like a macaroon for a bit! Thanks for your help, Jo.

Wow, your submissions are fantastic – it is great to see how things have changed over the 100 days… I’m on day 3 !

Great to see that this is possible – thanks for the inspiration. Jo.

Day 3 – I’m starting to realise that this is such a good discipline – to work fast and post whatever you get in the time available – I think this is what Steve Houston means when he says make a lot of starts.100days 3

    Hi Carlos,

Thanks for your thoughts – it feels like you and I have this whole forum to ourselves at the moment – as there is no-one else around – but all the same its good to hear from you…

I must add Bill Perkin to my ever-growing list of things I want to watch and work on- honestly when I started to get into this I had no idea how huge it was and just how much there was to learn – but I do find it constantly surprising and endlessly fascinating.

Thanks for helping me along the way. Jo.

    Hi Carlos,

I’m no expert, but am currently working on similar themes, so am thinking about the same challenges at the moment. I love your figure on the left – the head shape is minimal but conveys all you need to know about where this figure is looking. I’m not so sure about the left shoulder though – if the arm was pulling through onto the knee like that, would the shoulder not be tucked under out of the way rather than sticking up? I also think the buttocks should stick out a bit to get a more exaggerated angle down the leg to the foot. Having said that I love your cross contours on the whole figure.

The figure on the right, looks like a lot of mine – I struggle to get the volume in the torso, and I think this guy is too flat… is the core shadow just too close to the edge perhaps? I love your trailing arm and how you have shaded that, it really captures the shape. As you have the light coming in from the left, should the back leg not be in shadow too?

Sorry, I think I have given your more questions than answers, but I am still feeling my way through all this too.

Hope it helps a bit. Jo
