    Day 9:
8.5″ X 11″ 98 lb white paper, I tinted a page a while ago not knowing what I would do with it. So I started this sketch today.

Day 8 was yesterday. I worked on this page some more inking over my light pencil sketch on the second face. I think I will leave this page now and move on.

Day 7: I realized late I hadn’t gotten my sketch book time in so I took a beer out on the deck and sketch what was in front of me.
It finally got warm enough to site on the deck here in the twin Cities and the last stubborn remnant from last weeks 5″ snowfall finally melted this morning.
Just trees over the railing. No leaves yet…

Looks like I posted that last post twice. I think I tried and thought it didn’t work so tried it again later and I guess they both came though.
Thank you for the tips Joshua, yes I am working on the mileage, 58 years old and trying to make up for lost time.

Day 6: I put some more time in on this page. I thought I might add more, something else to the page, but I think I will leave it now and move to a different page…

Day 5: Yesterday the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis had an online life drawing session. They had started this earlier in the year at the Walker with real live drawing and I made it to the first one, missed the second one and then the world changed and they were canceled. Until yesterday when, as so many things have done, they tried it on line.  It’s certainly not the same as real life but I figured I would sit in anyway. The model was clothed and wearing a mask. OK. I stayed for over half of it but decided to leave after that, it was getting to be my bed time… So we started with a 5 minute then some 30 second and one and two minute and then two more 5 minutes and a ten. They were going to do a few more 10s and then a longer one after that. This also fills the last couple pages of a larger 14×17 sketch book that I have been using exclusively for figure drawing for the last year or so.

One wonders if we will be living in a world where we don’t see peoples faces anymore…

I like your looseness and how you fill the whole page. Your gesture drawings are great. They are all great. It’s fun to look through these, thank you!

Thanks! Of course if I keep working on it I am bound to go to far at some point… But I will try not to get after the face to much anymore.

Thanks for the comments, yes small realistic goals has always been key for me.
I liked the simplicity of that day 3 page and thought about just leaving it as that but I put in some more time today.
…and after today, I can see I will have to spend more time on it… maybe tomorrow or some other day. I didn’t have as much time today as I would have liked but I got the 15 in for sure, maybe 30.
Spending too much time on Cory the Corgis face…
I have spent a good deal of my sketch time in the past few years on human forms, the dog thing kind of makes me overthink I think.
I keep a few sketch books going, different page size, paper weight for some watercolor, (gouache), and a tinted paper just for… well whatever. This sketch book is 7″x9″ so this sketch is smaller than it looks here.

Thanks for all the encouraging comments!
Day 3, (97 more to go).
I am not a fast worker and 15 minutes is not a long time for my daily sketch book work, but I have always been surprised what one can accomplish if one can give it 15 minutes consistently every day.
Probably I have more like a half hour into this one, mostly just some light pencil work with a 5h on gray toned 90lb. Then a little later I spent some time laying in a few light colors just to try and get a feel for it.
It’s all I have for today. I will pick it up again another day. #100DayArtChallenge #PathToMastery
I am also posting these on my FB page which nobody probably looks at except my mother.

I am not sure how we are supposed to do this, I was thinking we could respond to our original post but I don’t see a way to do that so i guess we are just supposed to reply to the main topic?

Above it says” post the image to your topic” but I am not sure what that means. Anyway my first post is here:
This is actually a page I started a few days ago penciling in the forms. Today I did the ink work on the face on the left. #100DayArtChallenge #PathToMastery #sketbookpages #dailysketch

I will also post here on FB page: https://www.facebook.com/John-Huisman-Woodworking-and-Art-906958619445104/

Somebody tell me if I am doing this right. (or not).
