Thanks so much for the ideas and encouragement @christopherbunger , I will think about the abstraction of forms, this is what I’m trying to do with figures, I like the conceptual process of Vilppu and Huston. I started out in art, many years ago with the contour drawing method, it’s always been a challenge to draw “through” the form as Glenn stresses.

    Day 7

Quite disappointed today, I tried the daily timed drawing session, entirely on my own, just doing the 1 and 2 minute poses. I immediately get caught up in detail, still. My marks are tentative, scratchy and not in the right places. I spent a week in part 1, gesture with Vilppu. I don’t know whether to advance to the next chapter, spherical forms or not.

Thanks Deborah for your kind words, indeed it’s the discipline and process (I need to remind myself constantly) that will bring the results.

Hi Simon, you have some really good work here, it’s interesting to read your thoughts too! I like Vilppu and Huston’s courses as well, although I haven’t gotten to heads yet.

    Day 6

I am feeling a little more nimble with my fingers. It takes a few minutes to warm up, I’m always scared to begin. But once the process gets going, I forget about everything and feel a lot more relaxed. I hope one day to be able to draw from memory, I think it would feel very freeing.

Thank you Jaylene! I am beginning to be aware (and a little scared)of what I’ve taken on in choosing to do this challenge. But seeing your work and others, I can see everyone improving, so I know it’s not a waste of time!

Hi Deborah, thanks for your comments! I find that doing drawings over and over like scales as it were,  can be tedious. That’s why I’m trying to track my progress  I see that you are already on your second 100 day challenge, that’s fantastic and I know you must be proud!

Hi Deborah, I have read through some of your many posts which I find inspirational! In this last post I can see a better way I might follow along with the lectures, as you have done. I have recently started a figure drawing challenge and your work, along with others in this group has encouraged me to begin!

Hi Kaylene, you are making good progress, I like the fact that you post both the better and less successful days 🙂.  Your posts have encouraged me to have a go at my own figure drawing challenge. I am on day 3, doing Vilppu’s figure drawing, this is my first challenge.

Day 3 Glen suggests doing these gesture drawings over and over. I’m going to attempt these for 1 week.
