Nice!
Day 21
Made a little bit of progress today on the anatomy study and watched some really cool art videos on YouTube. Some artists whose work I’ve discovered: Amy Sherald, Kehinde Wiley, and Gerard Richter. I’d heard of Richter, but never studied his work. By contrast, I had seen the works of Wiley and Sherald, but never knew anything about them. Immersing myself more in art helps me to stay in my right brain, even during work (which is tedious and decidedly left-brained).
Day 20
Today I continued with the Beginning Head Drawing class. I only got a few hours of sleep, so unfortunately I had to keep rewinding back to the parts I had napped through. But then I went on to work on some anatomy studies. That kept me awake! I’ll probably finish it tonight or tomorrow. Now it’s time for the day job (quiet sob).
Thanks, Jan! I haven’t taken Glen’s Animal Drawing course yet, but I love the way that sounds – feeling it and building from the inside out. Yes, it’s great to work on drawing, so that sounds like a good plan. However, at the same time, for me at least, sometimes I get so caught up in getting “good” that I forget that this is fun. I think a painting or series of paintings of your beloved late doggie friend would be really cool. It seems like your emotions really come through in your work. Like, when you enjoy a subject, it tends to be obvious in your results. So I’ll bet that if and when you decide to paint him, the work will be captivating.

Day 19
Today I worked on my business plans, watched some of the Beginning Head class, and did some gesture drawing. It was a long but great day! I doubt that I will have time to stick with this 100-day challenge diligently like I did the first 100 day challenge because of my new program that starts in 2 weeks. But there are no police here, so I’ll just post sporadically after it starts. If I disappear, my Insta is @ravensfineart.ravenkushner if you want to stay in touch.
In my opinion, you did achieve the goal of describing his form with the fur. You can definitely feel the skeleton and the muscle underneath the abundance and beauty of the fur. I also love his little face. You definitely feel a personality there, not just a drawing. Lovely! Are you going to paint him as well?

Day 17
Today was mostly errand day. But I did spend a couple of hours taking class. I had to take a break from the Beginning Head Course. I did Bill Perkins’ composition course instead, which I’m really enjoying so far. Then I did a few 5- minute line drawings of random objects, which I also enjoy – I just wish I had more interesting things in my house. I would have gone outside to draw, but it was after 10 pm when I started!
