This week is again dedicated to the basics, so today was focused on lines and the overhand grip of the pencil. I used my long neglected charcoal pencil and although it feels a little bit as if I just have started again from the beginning, I understood a few principles of line usage that I can hopefully apply in the future with more practice.
Day 53:
Thanks for your comment Jean-Pierre!
Today is day 50, so half of the challenge is done! Well, it will definitely continue afterwards and this daily drawing habit is surely something I want to keep even if the challenge is over. I’m really glad that I started with this challenge and thank for everyone’s feedback so far!
The pose was done from imagination, but I looked up the Croquis Cafe model Jorgie for the facial features. And yes, I was evasive on the hands and feet!
Day 50:
Thanks for your comment on my thread, Jean-Pierre! You asked me if the perspective helps for the figures and the heads and I would definitely say yes. As I am still not very familiar with the box shapes in the figure, the perspective part cannot be applied well in this case yet, but with regard to heads my spatial sense has improved!
You say that the already feel an improvement and as you will continue, this challenge will pay off even more!
With regard to the anatomy and proportions, I also have to revisit the anatomical concepts again and again and every time my understanding improves a little bit.
Just keep going!
Hello Lucas, thank you for your comment, I really appreciate it!
Thanks for the tip, I will definitely watch them from time to time from now on! Drawing poses without a timer feels actually better and if the method of Glenn Vilppu’s is applied more often, it should sink in after a while!
I saw many things from a fresher perspective when I started it watching for a second time today.
Not so much drawing done these last couple of days and feeling a little bit tired, but I hope I can restore my energy from now on!
Day 46:
It’s really cool that you started drawing these anatomic shapes from imagination! It can be really hard sometimes, but in the end I think it will be more rewarding to have the ability to at least draw the basic shapes from scratch without references. Keep it up!
