    day o17
    day o17 .

had some trouble getting the angle of the head just right..

other than that, everything else was on point, with little to no adjustments needed (at least in my eyes)

i’m satisfied with the lay-in overall

Nice work on this, especially your placement of the facial features they’re very accurate

really like how this particular drawing came out today

added little hints of shadow to give the subject some life

note: listening to my audiobooks, while drawing, really helps me get into the zone

i feel that I need to bring the ear slightly closer to the features

maybe take a little off the neck and the back of the head too

other than that, I’m pretty happy with the results

had to redo the legs completely.. extended them more than needed

i tend to do this often (sometimes working out for the best)

books I’m currently reading: THE HUMAN FIGURE by JOHN H. VANDERPOEL, ART & FEAR by DAVID BAYLES & TED ORLAND

i don’t have much to say about today’s practice, so I’ll leave you with someone else’s words..

“but the important point here is not that you have, or don’t have, what other artists have, but rather that it doesn’t matter. Whatever they have is something needed to do their work, it wouldn’t help you in your work even if you had it. Their magic is theirs. You don’t lack it. You don’t need it. It has nothing to do with you. Period.   – DAVID BAYLES

    another smooth session

i see now that her left-hand could be smaller, maybe falling away into space a bit more too

think I’m ready to start taking these sketches to the next level

i’ve been doing a handful of these sketches each day

first one normally taking up most of the paper

also, I often record a time-lapse of the process (videos uploaded on my Instagram stories)

i don’t normally use so many lines to sketch my figures, but when I’m tired, they’re my go-to

something different:  i often start with the head first when I draw (since it’s a great measuring tool)..

but today, I started with the legs and worked my way up, leaving the head the last thing to construct (made things interesting)

on this piece today, I came across some hiccups (thus the quick side-sketch)

when something isn’t making sense to me, doing a quick side-sketch helps greatly

sometimes they even look better (reason being:  I don’t overthink them, I draw faster and just let it happen)
