In week two, you will delve into the foundational concepts and essential materials for still-life painting. Instructor Cornelia Hernes will guide you through the importance of observational tools and how they aid in capturing the essence of your subject. She will introduce you to tools such as L-shaped cardboards, black mirrors, and plumb lines, among others. Cornelia will also discuss key concepts like proportion, gesture, movement, and rhythm, ensuring you have a comprehensive understanding. By the end of this lesson, you will be equipped with the knowledge and tools to approach still-life painting with confidence and precision.
Throughout this course, you’ll have access to the NMA community for feedback and critiques to improve your work as you progress.
