hey Natasha,
hah it was and then some..
i’ve actually skipped around all these chapters, but decided to come back and do the assignments in a much larger scale
since that’s what my personal work will be mainly focused around
by the way, thanks
– i feel that I’m finished with this particular assignment
– liking the look/idea of leaving the other leg a few steps behind what I consider completion
– the process is a bit slow at the moment
– working on this and a couple of other things..
– also, i’ll be off the grid for awhile, but I’ll post as soon as I get back on!

i really appreciate that, Erik . Maybe putting in these long hours have finally started to pay off
how’s it going, Christopher . Honestly, I was doing all of this foundation work and needed a challenge. Watching Iliya draw is really inspiring, and motivated me to push myself and work at a larger scale, which has been a goal of mine . Thanks for checking in
– charcoal on paper 18×24 inches
– i find drawing the back of any figure still very difficult
here’s a quick sketch done in charcoal
i enjoyed coming back and working from a much smaller scale, more than I thought I would ..

Hey Iliya,
I appreciate you taking the time to not only check out my work, but to also share some of your insight. Though I wasn’t able to fully change everything that you suggested, due to the progress I had already made, I took what you said and did my best to apply it to my final rendering of Mark (see above).
I do have a couple of quick questions, if you don’t mind. First, where can I find/buy the chunky charcoal stick you used on this lesson? I’ve only seen it sold in variety-packs. And second, what do you feel is one of the best pieces of advice that you were given about these larger scale drawings? Working from this large scale really resonates with me and I plan to continue on this path, hopefully leading to oil paintings in the future.
Thanks again for your thoughts,
Jake
