Hi buffanut. There is a nice consistency of light and dark patters going on throughout the figure. Ive chosen this aspect and thought it can be pushed a bit more to make it interesting. So what i did was i simply dropped the background with tone to define the rib cage. In doing so allowed me to pull highlight on the hair which helps push that idea of light and dark patters even more. Lastly Ive adjusted the size of the head which felt kinda small. Contrast of light and darks is just another tool to help bring clarity to your work. I hope this helps.

Hi Dan. Nice work on the portrait. I like how you captured her personality. Although It seems like your darkest darks and your lightest lights are not strong enough. I think it’s the only thing that is missing in order to make it read everything’s els such a proportions and shape are working. Maybe emphasize on line just a little bit to help contain the forms and to show overlaps. It doesn’t take much but I’ve added the lights and darks in areas such as corners and planes that are facing relatively up  which would should revive most of the light. Hope this helps 👍

Hi Jaylene, I like how your using the soft side of the pencil to create the hair and the shadows of the face. It seems like your aware of how lines and tone can effect the quality of the drawing. However the drawing felt a bit flat mainly because its missing core shadows. Also the cast shadow of the nose is rolling over the face a bit too much, creating weird shapes on the face so I’ve slight shifted the light upward a bit more. I hope this helps 🙂

Hi Rey! Wow I can definitely see how to white can add to the drawing.. maybe using paper that is just slightly tinted like a creamy white will make room for that extreme white you’ve suggested with the New Pastel.  Thank you so much for the advice. This is exactly what I needed!

Thank you all so much for taking the time to look at my drawing. It appears that my understand of the form is not clear. I might have to consider in revisiting anatomy of the face a bit more and i thought about really looking at the skull its self. I’m beginning to realize how important the skull is in affecting the features of the face.

I understood that line should not describe from. But is a constructive figure drawing meaning using simple spheres and cylinders considered a line drawing?
