What personal data we collect and why we collect it

The information New Masters Academy receives depends on what you do when you visit our site. We only collect personally identifiable information if you voluntarily submit it to us. You can refuse to supply such information, but doing so might prevent you from engaging in certain website-related activities.

Non-personal identifiable information

The non-personal identification information may include the browser name, the device being used to access our site, the pages visited and the content viewed, and technical information such as the operating system or other similar information when a user visits our site.

We use this information to serve you better. The extent of information we collect depends on the type and settings of the device you use to access our website.

Registration

If you choose to create an account with nma.art you will be required to provide your name and email address. We collect your name and email in order to authenticate you as the account owner if needed. We also need your email to send you emails from this website, including:

  • Notifications of account changes;
  • Password reset requests;
  • Order confirmations;
  • Subscription/membership notifications; and
  • Updates regarding changes to content services and offerings.

We also collect and store additional non-personal information regarding your interaction with our video library and with our courses. We store information regarding your video watch history, information to track your progress in any courses you have started, and information required to save any playlists you create. We use this information to provide you with a better experience.

New Masters Academy may also store your IP Address in our database in order to ensure that accounts are not being abused, and to otherwise ensure that our services are used in the manner intended.

Orders

We collect information about you during the checkout process on our online store.

While you visit our site, we’ll track:

  • Products you’ve viewed: we’ll use this to, for example, show you products you’ve recently viewed
  • Location, IP address and browser type: we’ll use this for purposes like estimating taxes and shipping
  • Shipping address: we’ll ask you to enter this so we can, for instance, estimate shipping before you place an order, and send you the order!

We’ll also use cookies to keep track of cart contents while you’re browsing our site.

When you purchase from us, we’ll ask you to provide information including your name, billing address, shipping address, email address, phone number, credit card/payment details and optional account information like username and password. We’ll use this information for purposes, such as, to:

Who on our team has access

Members of our team have access to the information you provide us. For example, both Administrators and Shop Managers can access:

  • Order information like what was purchased, when it was purchased and where it should be sent, and
  • Customer information like your name, email address, and billing and shipping information.
  • Our team members have access to this information to help fulfill orders, process refunds and support you.

Payments

New Masters Academy uses Stripe, Authorize.Net and PayPal to process orders you make on our website. When processing payments, some of your data will be passed to these payment processors, including information required to process or support the payment, such as the purchase total and billing information.

If you choose to purchase a recurring subscription to this website’s services, we will save in our database a unique identifier which the payment processors use to authorize this website to securely charge your payment method.

New Masters Academy does NOT store your credit card information in our database. Your information is encrypted and maintained by our payment processors.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Forum posts

When users make posts on our forums, we store the data shown in the submission forms as well as the date the post was made and other metadata required to record who posted what and the relationships between posts. We also store which topics you started, which replies you created, any forum badges you acquire, any forum “points” you acquire, and any topics you choose to “favorite.” We also save information regarding which forums and topics you subscribe to, should you choose to subscribe to any of them.

By default, the following information is publicly viewable by other users:

  • Your username
  • Your forum role
  • The topics you started
  • The replies you created
  • Your number of badges
  • Your number of points
  • Your favorite topics

You may choose to make additional information public, but only if you do so yourself.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact forms

If you choose to correspond with New Masters Academy via email or one of our contact forms, we may retain the content of your email messages together with your email address and our responses. We provide the same protection for these electronic communications that we employ in the maintenance of information received by mail and telephone.

Email service provider

As part of the services offered by New Masters Academy, we use your name and email to inform you about new content such as video lessons and images, features that have been added or modified, special offers, and other important site updates regarding our content or content creators.

In order to provide these services, New Masters Academy sends your name and email address to our email provider MailChimp. You can read MailChimp’s privacy policy here.

You can choose to not receive these emails or update your contact preferences at any time by following the links in the footer of any MailChimp email you receive from us, or by contacting us at info@nma.art. We will treat your information with respect.

Please note, if you choose to unsubscribe from these emails, you are opting out of certain services provided by this website.

Please note, transactional emails sent from nma.art regarding changes to your account or regarding any orders you place on this website, which do not come from MailChimp, are integral to the proper operation of this website and cannot be unsubscribed from.

Additional circumstances for information disclosure

If we are unable to verify your identity, we may deny your requests to know.

B. Right to Delete

You have the right to request that we delete the personal information we have collected from you in the last 12 months. To exercise the Right to Delete, please submit a request at info@nma.art. We will confirm receipt of your request within 10 days. We may require specific information from you to help us verify your identity and process your request. If we are unable to verify your identity, we may deny your request to delete. If we deny your request, we will explain the reason why in our response.

C. Right to Non-discrimination

You have the right not to receive discriminatory treatment by us for exercising any of your rights.

D. Authorized Agent

You can designate an authorized agent to submit requests on your behalf. However, we will require written proof of the agent’s permission to do so and verify your identity directly.

Shine the Light

Under California’s “Shine the Light” law, California residents who provide personal information in obtaining products or services for personal, family, or household use are entitled to request and obtain from us, once each calendar year, information about the customer information we shared, if any, with other businesses for their own direct marketing uses. If applicable, this information would include the categories of customer information and the names and addresses of those businesses with which we shared customer information for the immediately preceding calendar year.

We will provide in response the requested information to you at your e-mail address.

New Masters Academy uses data hosting service providers in the United States to host collected information, and we use technical measures to secure all data. Despite the thorough security measures and safeguards that New Masters Academy implements to protect data, no security system is impenetrable and due to the inherent nature of the Internet, New Masters Academy cannot guarantee that data, during transmission through the Internet or while stored on our systems or otherwise in our care, is absolutely safe from intrusion by others. New Masters Academy has policies in place in case of such situation and will respond to requests about this within a reasonable timeframe.
