I was shown a painting of a young girl holding a baby, potentially her younger brother. She wore a veil with a flower pattern. If I remember correctly, I was told that the painter was Italian.
I was also told that the painting was not originally intended to represent the Holy Virgin, but that today, it is oftentimes used in a religious setting, because it really looks like Saint Mary holding Baby Jesus. I was told that she is known as the “Virgin of the poor”, or “la Vierge des pauvres” (the discussion was held in French).
I was not able to find the painting using a search engine, so I hope someone here might be cultured enough to provide me with more information, and perhaps a link to the image of the painting I’m looking for.
Thank you in advance.
