Self Portrait in Oil on Canvas

Here’s a piece I just finished right before joining NMA. I feel it’s suitable as I haven’t dabbled in oil/ traditional mediums in what feels like forever (2 years I’ve been more digitally based as a tattoo artist).

I found a few struggles with really figuring out the balance between likeness and reality/ imagination. I haven’t done a real self portrait since undergrad.
I’m just excited to see where NMA takes me and how my portraits will adjust accordingly as I grow :). Also this painting isn’t fully dry and definitely needs to be oiled out because there’s a lot of turpentine in it which is another mistake!! and I couldn’t get a good non-glare photo!!
