    Oh I love this! I think the colors are really beautiful.

    That said, I think they interrupt the forms in some places. For instance, on the forehead, some of the strokes don’t follow the form of the forehead, so they make reading that shape harder. I also think the blue stripe that goes from the cheekbone and down through the beard to the collar is very distracting. For me, at least.

    I also think that it would look less like he was floating if you made the background less busy and softened the edges of the paint strokes in the background.

    I really think this is beautiful though! Thank you for sharing it!

    I find myself lately drawn to dynamic brush/knife strokes , my idea was to introduce a foreground of knife strokes to give a certain depth to the portrait
