Hey all.  Here are an assortment of sketches from the last few weeks.  My references have been from this site, NMA Life Drawing on Youtube, BodiesinMotion.info, Croquis on Vimeo, and sometimes just random google pics…  I like to do short gestures a lot so that is the dominant theme, but there are other things.

Great work! These are all really striking drawings. I especially like your use of cross contour lines to describe the forms. It is very effective. I always loved old engravings that utilized this approach.

Thanks Jan.  I’m trying to feel out the form using those wrapping lines.  Here is a new one from one of the 3d models and my brain is hurting from trying to figure out the form.

Thanks Chem.  At some point I’ll get around to more painting.  Lately I’ve really wanted to do a lot of these quick structural studies and gestures.

Hola Jerry!

Love the energy and gracefulness of those gestures. Awesome job on honing in on the cross-contour lines. For some of them, those lines do compete with the shading so it all gets lost. If Form and Cross-Contours are your thing for the time being, just make a clean line drawing. In your software, you can lower down the opacity just a tad bit on those construction lines.

The Ballerina’s leg lifted up is a perfect example of simple, solid construction. More of that!
