I haven’t seen as much progress as I would have liked with my anatomy and figure drawings recently, so I am going to attempt this challenge in the hopes it helps. Any critique or advice is more than welcome.

Nice fluid lines, great forms, Jasper.

Are you following one of the courses?

    Cheers,
    David.

Thanks, really appreciate the feed back

For my anatomy I am using Glenn Vilppu’s intermediate art anatomy and Rey Bustos’ anatomy course.

    I defiantly recommend them both,

    Thanks again

They look like great courses, Jasper.  I think I’ll do Steve Huston’s basic anatomy course once I’ve finished up with the general beginner’s course.

    Good luck with your challenge!

    Cheers,
    David.

Good pick, Steve Huston is a great teacher.

    Good luck to you too.

Day 2 – Anatomy of the upper arm.

Today I studied Ray Bustos’ lecture on the anatomy of the upper arm and completed a few studies as well as experimenting with some inking.

More nice work there, Jasper.  Very nice fluid, flowing forms again.  Interestingly, for me, the fluidity is lost somewhat with the gouache (or watercolour?) wash in the last study where the ragged edges of the shaded areas break up the flow.

    Cheers,
    David.

Thanks for the feed back David,

I agree that the mix of ink and wash defiantly hinder the flow of the drawing, I am going to continue to experiment with ways of rendering and hopefully overcome that problem.

    thanks again,

    Jasper

Day 3 – Anatomy of the lower arm

Today I studied the anatomy of the for arm, which was more complicated than I anticipated, from Rey Bustos’ lectures. I completed a few sketches and tried out some rendering with brush pen.
