Introduction to Watercolors

In this lesson series instructor Sheldon Borenstein shows you how to work with a variety of drawing and painting media. You will learn how the general principles of art apply equally to all media and specifically how to work with each individual medium while employing the appropriate techniques. In this video lesson Sheldon will teach you how to work with watercolors.

Materials

• Da Vinci Maestro Travel Brush or Winsor Newton Series 7 Kolinsky Sable Brush
• Winsor & Newton Watercolor Field Box Set
• Van Gogh Watercolor Pocket Box Set of 18
• Watercolor Paper

So far, not very far through. But I am learning a-lot about how Watercolor Works. I’m starting to think that the contradiction of being patient and watching the medium (in essence the idea of stepping back and viewing what is done, the disconnect for perspective) versus the fact that the water and pigment will dry and you need to work quickly to make adjustments.

Also the idea of planning ahead…

And how color works… watercolor seems to be a very important medium for development. I will definitely put great effort towards it.
