Expert animal draftsman and painter, Joe Weatherly, breaks down the complex subject of animal anatomy using clear and easy to understand concepts. You will learn how to tackle a wide range of animal types and you will gain a methodology for quickly drawing any new animal with confidence and force. In this video lesson, Joe explains the critical muscles and bones to analyze when dealing with animal anatomy and explains their relative importance. Joe will draw a horse, starting with the basic forms and skeleton working from the skeleton outwards.

I have been impressed with Joe’s videos and his books, mainly because he has had a profound influence on my own animal drawings.  Too many animal artists get lost in the details of fur and other minutia, without first seeing the underlying structure.  Joe teaches animal anatomy and an approach to achieving a solid framework quickly.   In the past, I have spent many an hour observing animals, coming home with only a few incomplete sketches and dozens of photographs.   Now after returning home with fresh photographs and observations, I can fill my sketchbook with dozens of different animal drawings from black-tailed prairie dogs to Eurasian lynx.  This has been very rewarding course.
