    These beautiful, hand-carved nativity scene figures have always appealed to me aesthetically as well as symbolically.  Drawing this was like doing figurative work, still life, and illustration all in one, which I enjoyed.  The piece was executed in graphite and white chalk pencil on grey paper and is about 9” x 12”.  I’d appreciate any critiques from the instructors or community!  I did not plan my focal point properly, and ended up being torn between different options and thus making a weaker statement.

    I worked directly from these carvings, rather than from the photo I’m posting below.  I do not appear to have captured quite the angle/arrangement from which I drew, but I include it to show my subject matter.
