In this lesson, NMA master draftsman Glenn Vilppu covers the concept of atmosphere. You will watch as Glenn lectures on how atmosphere can help build perspective and variety within your figure drawings. You will learn how the Old Masters utilized atmosphere in their work through thorough analysis. Glenn will then do several demonstrations to illustrate the technique with the figure. Next, you will get a chance to apply what you’ve learned in a timed figure drawing assignment. Glenn will wrap up the lesson by showing you his approach to the assignment.
This lesson belongs to Dynamic Gesture Drawing. In this 9-week course with master draftsperson Glenn Vilppu, you will learn a drawing approach rooted in the Renaissance tradition yet applicable today in the world of fine art, animation, and illustration. Glenn will lecture on the concepts of gesture and rendering that will aid in the development of your figure drawings.
