Class Description

Embark on a colorful journey through the medium of gouache with an 8-week Live Class led by NMA instructor Renae Wang. This comprehensive class offers a deep dive into the techniques and applications of gouache, a versatile and vibrant paint medium that has captivated artists for centuries. Each week, you’ll explore a new facet of gouache painting, starting with an introduction to the medium’s history and key characteristics. You’ll learn about color theory, brushwork, and layering techniques and apply these skills to create textures and depth in your artwork. From the serene beauty of landscapes to the intimate details of interior scenes and the dynamic forms of figure painting, this course covers a wide range of subjects and styles. The class culminates in a final painting project, where you’ll combine all the techniques you’ve learned to create a masterpiece.
