In this lesson, NMA master draftsman Glenn Vilppu goes more in-depth into gesture drawing. You will learn how to capture the feeling and movement of the pose using gestures. Glen shows how the fundamentals of gesture and structure apply equally from medium to medium. You will develop an understanding of how the old masters used gestures to compose their masterpieces.
This lesson belongs to Dynamic Gesture Drawing. In this 9-week course with master draftsperson Glenn Vilppu, you will learn a drawing approach rooted in the Renaissance tradition yet applicable today in the world of fine art, animation, and illustration. Glenn will lecture on the concepts of gesture and rendering that will aid in the development of your figure drawings. Using a variety of drawing mediums, you will gain the knowledge needed to break down complex forms into simpler ideas, and at the same time, better your understanding of the human anatomy. Through Old Master analysis, you will examine the concepts presented in Glenn’s lectures. This course will provide you with the real time practice needed to take your figure drawings to new heights.
