… If there were doubts about the idea that no painting is ever definitely finished, this my latest self-portrait would undo them, because every time I was going to tidy the studio, I looked myself in the mirror, and I looked at the painting, and I was discovering what could be improved. Finally I close the process, according to my way of approach – although approaches are dependents on the circumstances. In this case, having the model near by is a tremendous risk, since there is the possibility of losing the freshness of the “first waters”, using my friend Chantre’s happy expression.
It is true that, if it goes well, something is lost and something is gained … And everything is well, when it ends well.
Yes, I’m done, but the studio still has to be returned to some order… 🙂
