In this lesson, instructor Sheldon Borenstein will teach you gesture drawing of sitting, kneeling, and reclining figures. You will learn how to apply the concepts of weight, balance, and proportions to these complicated poses. At the end of the lesson, you will explore how the principles of gesture relate to the Old Masters.

This lesson belongs to the course Introduction to the Figure. In this 4-week course, Sheldon Borenstein will teach you all the fundamentals of figure drawing. With his 30 years of experience in the entertainment industry and teaching, Sheldon will show you how to draw the figure with rhythm and structure. This course will teach you two important aspects of figure drawing: gesture and construction. Through these two principles, you will be able to tell a story with the figure and give it believable forms.

Throughout this course, you’ll have access to the NMA community for feedback and critiques to improve your work as you progress.

    Hi,

On week 2, video 3, at around the 13 minutes mark, the video goes silent. Is that intentional? Is it on my end only?

If I’m looking at the same video as you, he just stop talking for about 1 minute to focus on the drawing. Nothing is missed in the transcript and I can hear the pencil when I crank up the volume.

If you believe this is an issue, or see that it doesn’t keep up with the transcript, please send a screenshot and a description of the problem to “info@nma.art” and they will diagnose for you

Yeah, he just stops talking, I just thought it was a bit sudden and unexpected when I was watching the video 😛

    Thanks!
