Hi Jeffrey powerful portrait good likeness , the lighting on the reference has worked in your painting , but I feel may have made the painting technically more difficult .
Kind regards
Tim
Thanks Jeffrey I have returned to drawing now to observe “values” I find using colour as above very challenging and am naturally attracted to dry mediums and muted washes “painting can seem like the highest level and I think I got sucked into that .
Kind regards
Tim

Hi krista
I love the first one in particular it’s very beautiful and even in a study piece you communicate so much
your 1st portrait vibrates and has great mystery and narrative your a good artist with subtle skills ,I on the other hand have no training and started this July I have since done the beginner course in drawing and completely agree with you about starting with greyscale I cant live in a photoshopped world .

I normally do plein air , but it’s a bit chilly , in this one I enjoyed the vine charcol being like dust so temporary, I look forward to seeing your messy oils
