Born in Israel in 1988, lives and works in Tel Aviv. Rona Perlman's work ranges from abstract to figurative while examining the relationship between the painting’s materials and its contents. At the same time, she re-examines the narratives and conventions that have been established in society in general, and in the history of art in particular. Her means range from classical practice of painting on canvas in which the image is born out of nothing, to collages that use unconventional materials and ready-made images. It seems that the figurative image in her work emerges out of the abstract and chaotic base layer, taking shape as the substrate is erased and blurred, as in sculpting through the removal of matter. Perlman has received her BFA from HaMidrasha Faculty of Arts with high honors. Her works have been exhibited in various venues, including The Israel Museum in Jerusalem, The 6th Biennale for Drawing in Jerusalem, Circle 1 Gallery in Berlin and Muza - Eretz Israel Museum in Tel Aviv. She has taken part in the Artist Residence, The Herzliya Center for the Creative Arts (2015), as well as the VSC residency program for visual artists and writers in Vermont, from which she has received an artist grant (2014).
