I am back and determined to finish!! So, I wouldn’t usually post a warm up drawing but I kinda liked this one, not sure why. I am working through the video lessons from Draw Force videos. This is  a 2 minute timed poses week 1, just feeling the force.

Working on gesture has made me realize that the areas I am weak in are anatomy and perspective and that I also need to work on blocking in the heads, hands and feet.  I am alternating a week following the live anatomy course (even though it is week 8 and I am in week 1) and returning to gesture for a week. So one week anatomy and one week gesture. I am interested to see what impact this has on my gesture drawing. I am also reading the Force Anatomy Book as I go.   This will take a while but after I have done this, I am going to do the same process with the perspective course.

I don’t digitally draw very often but as this is also a skill I wish to improve, I am doing my draw overs for the anatomy course on a tablet. I am also doing some of these on paper as I would like to draw the skeleton with a loose gesture line.

I did the front as well, but as my back view was done second, it is the better of two. This took more time than expected and I will at some time go back and do this with finer detail (respect to those who drew every rib).  Now back to gesture for the a week.

Week 2 of Rey’s anatomy course, working on applying anatomy of the foot while keeping the rhythm of ‘force’.  This is a rough drawing, but I am seeing more anatomy, which I can see will improve my drawing over time (even if it is confusing my drawing process now). foot

somehow the rhythm and gesture really comes through in this drawing — it’s like i can sense the life in it. v inspiring!

Thank you Giang!! The ‘Drawing with Force’ course has been very helpful with getting this energy into my drawings; I would highly recommend them along with  Michael Mattesi’s books and youtube channel if this interests you. Take care.

Foot number 2, four more to go. I am still working on this one, but this is all the time I have for tonight.

The foot of the day. One more to go. I am not happy with this one, but I need to move onto the last foot and the upper leg.

Redo of the last foot. A bit better but for some reason this pose escapes me.

One minute timed drawing of two hands. I need to work on clarifying the structure; it is a bit messy. However, I like the looseness of it, I have struggled with hands being overly stiff. Working with Steve Huston’s how to draw hands course.
