Working on gesture has made me realize that the areas I am weak in are anatomy and perspective and that I also need to work on blocking in the heads, hands and feet. I am alternating a week following the live anatomy course (even though it is week 8 and I am in week 1) and returning to gesture for a week. So one week anatomy and one week gesture. I am interested to see what impact this has on my gesture drawing. I am also reading the Force Anatomy Book as I go. This will take a while but after I have done this, I am going to do the same process with the perspective course.
I don’t digitally draw very often but as this is also a skill I wish to improve, I am doing my draw overs for the anatomy course on a tablet. I am also doing some of these on paper as I would like to draw the skeleton with a loose gesture line.
I did the front as well, but as my back view was done second, it is the better of two. This took more time than expected and I will at some time go back and do this with finer detail (respect to those who drew every rib). Now back to gesture for the a week.August 21, 2022 at 6:38 pm #2635650August 22, 2022 at 6:16 am #2635973Giang NguyenParticipant
somehow the rhythm and gesture really comes through in this drawing — it’s like i can sense the life in it. v inspiring!August 22, 2022 at 9:41 am #2636156
Thank you Giang!! The ‘Drawing with Force’ course has been very helpful with getting this energy into my drawings; I would highly recommend them along with Michael Mattesi’s books and youtube channel if this interests you. Take care.August 22, 2022 at 6:19 pm #2637893August 23, 2022 at 6:25 pm #2643547August 24, 2022 at 5:55 pm #2644602August 25, 2022 at 7:10 pm #2645684December 26, 2022 at 8:06 pm #2778725January 15, 2023 at 6:05 pm #2783317
