    Ran into some trouble with the head and arm proportions, good practice trying to fix it

    I think the arm gave you trouble because of the foreshortening. When an object comes at us more dramatically it’s best to think of a cylinder or box and draw it that way, focusing on the overlapping of the forms. 👍🏼

    Thanks! That makes sense. I tried that section again, but I wasn’t playing close attention to some of the angles and proportions, so it still looks a little off.

    Good reminder to check the gesture before thinking about the contours & connections – torso gesture looks pretty off after I scanned it and stepped back.

    Was backpacking all day, so just had a small sketchbook and a few saved references on my phone. Ended up with very little downtime, but gave it a shot in the smaller notebook.
