Sorry to hear about your carpal tunnel. I started to get that a few years ago. After doing a ton of research, I came across some physical therapy exercises that did wonders. The exercises combined with proper drawing and painting technique, diet, rest, ice, massage, and wearing a brace at night really fixed me up. I only have trouble now if I really overwork my hands with repetitive motions (like using an airbrush for 3 hours straight). I’m happy to share if you are interested, they are all on youtube.

September 1, 2020 at 9:08 am #698215Hi Lizzomatic! Thank you for your kind comment! I have not followed the watercolour courses of NMA yet, only some figure drawing courses… as I am self-taught in watercolour so it would be good to follow a course specialised only on this topic. This summer I decided to go through figure drawing first and than to spend some more time on portrait. There are so many courses here 🙂

September 2, 2020 at 12:27 am #699442Really nice work here, Elena. One tip would be to try to unify your styles. Your anatomy studies can have those nice gestures that you do with wash. Your sketches can have more structure. Try to find ways to bring all of your skills to bear so that they don’t get compartmentalized in your mind.
September 2, 2020 at 3:06 pm #700459Thank you, Joshua! By now indeed I think I feel myself like a child who wants to try everything and doesn’t have his one style because she is still learning. I don’t think that I will cope with it in one week that I have to finish my challenge, especially when I can work only with my left hand. But even if I am not somebody who is progressing in one, visible and straight way, I am still grateful to NMA for the opportunity to come back to the art practice through the courses and this challenge.
I have got now a habit to draw every day and for an amateur artist I spent a lot of time on anatomy studies that I would never do without this challenge. Of course, there are still many things to learn, to unify and to progress in, and I will continue working on it… -
