In his human anatomy series, world-famous artist and instructor Glenn Vilppu breaks down the complex subject of anatomy for you with easy-to-understand diagrams and conceptual tools. In this lesson, Glenn analyzes the neck, breaking down the major forms as well as the anatomical components of bone, muscle, tendon, and subcutaneous tissue. You will gain a deeper understanding of the human machine and bring that understanding to your own work.

    HI,

I’m grateful that Glenn is here breaking down the anatomy but without images or real model references used as examples, what he teaches feels very abstract to a beginner student.

There are no references shown because Glenn is drawing from imagination. That’s the goal for students, to be able to draw these forms without references. It’s definitely a difficult task but I recommend you draw along with Glenn and take excellent notes. Then later when you have reference in front on you, the hope is you can recall some of these diagrams to help you interpret what you see.
