Basics of Contour Drawing Organic Objects

In this lesson, instructor Renae Wang will guide you through the essential tools and materials needed for this course. You’ll learn how to sharpen a pencil for drawing and the optimal drawing position for holding the pencil. Renae will then cover the fundamental elements of primary shapes, gestures, and axis of a subject while demonstrating how to create a contour drawing of an organic still-life object.

Throughout this course, you’ll have access to the NMA community for feedback and critiques to improve your work as you progress.

It is very difficult to understand the instructions in context to the drawing, as I cannot see the lines being made on the paper. I know you want to keep the rough shape and contour lines light, but for the purpose of the lesson, please make the markings a bit darker or change the lighting.
