André’s 100 days of figures

Hi all. This is my second attempt to go through this challenge. The last one started really nicely, but the goal of oil painting everyday became quite unrealistic for me after some changes my life went through during the challenge. So I tried keeping it up every second day but after a while I realized I had totally failed it.

That said I also felt that trying it really helped me getting closer to my goals. So I’ll give it a second chance with an easier goal in mind.

This time around my goal is to draw a human figure or object for at least 10min a day. I plan to use either pencils or oils, and the occasional pastel chalk. I’ll still paint bigger oil pieces in the meantime, so I might count those in.

The aim this time around is to improve my observation and proportion skills, mainly with the human body, but with the occasional landscape. So there will be some anatomical drawings, some model drawings, and a bit of landscape so as not to get bored.

And I’ll kick start my day one (that was yesterday) with these hands studies

Had a nice time drawing them yesterday. Just took some nice hand poses from nma’s gallery, sharpened the pencils and spent some 30 min on them, I think. I’m quite slow usually, and I don’t mind that, but I’ll try to improve that so it gets easier to keep up with the challenge.

Decided to follow though the model timed pose videos, and did this one in the 20min pose

Day 4

Decided to join the discord 100 hands challenge, started today with 6 hands

Day 5

Decided to spend some extra time today making it large and full of shadows. Mainly because I really liked the referencr photo

. Unfortunately it’s a single hand today, but I gotta start aiming for shorter times if I wanna make a 100

Timed the drawings down to 2 to 5min to focus only on gesture

Added some colors for a better understanding of tgd lighting of the poses

Added a magenta and some more time. Was super tired and sometimes concentrating on details relaxes me, will try to be more productive in numbers on the next days

I guess its 39/100 now plus the other doubles that I have to add to this count

Just freed my hands this weekend to pick any color that felt right. Good feeling about this. I might have to restrict my palette again though and downsize them a bit if I want to reach 100 hands before the end of the month.
