Lovely you use the charcoal lightly which is very asceticly pleasing
Kind regards

Hi Dominique very arresting work I really like it lots of expression in the eyes hands ,its quite story telling somehow like a new wave film poster
I like the brave free use of the mediums .

Hi Lewis really good skin tones and oil technique the sitter ireally looking out . Maybe there could be some warm tones in the background and via versa to give more harmony also into clothes re the lace its possibly just to well drawn to exact all in all a fine portrait showing great oil skills .

Hi Jan I really like this one the whole thing is really richly textured the head is very convincing and really has weight your zest for rendering is subdued and has worked really well on this piece ,but I agree when everything is rendered to a 10 the eye does not no where to look there is no contrast looking forward to seeing more your doing a lot of courses well done .

Hi Leon
Good work the man has really good perspective I like the freedom of your line work and the economy of strokes .
Tim
Lovely colours Francisco
I also like the mark making and energy
As I feel subjectively I am looking at a figurative work my eye is having trouble with the distorted proportion
So a beautiful painting that I have trouble reading
Tim
Wow you’ve got a really good eye justine everything looks right ,be good to see a more finished piece lovely
Tim
Nice use of line Zach look forward to seeing more of your work
Hi stacey these are lovely I like the materials in the first one (red) what did you use ? I like that you said a lot with economy of line . Drawing 2 is different and has a very languid line both drawings have good composition and work
The Mark’s inside elbows drawing 1 look a little bold in this digital image also it’s not easy to read the left arm in drawing 2 overall very lovely work
Thanks Jaylene the materials have such lovely names ,I saw a guy put on a midtone in vine erase it put in the darks with compressed and then sensitively used a 558 general white charcoal I ve tried a few papers but couldn’t get my white which is Derwent to go on like his I will try your suggestion .
I’ve just started this July and after buying a few Paints have decided to now focus on drawing / tonal values for a while ,thanks for your kind reply .
Tim
That’s very nice Beth very sympathetic , and realist proportions and lifelike features I am using pencil charcoal but would be great to try sculpture thanks for sharing
