“Her 3” Oil on masonite, 15×21 cm
Little alla prima painting of my wife. Tried to capture her Mona Lisa like smile. This time I used simple 4 colour zorn palette (ivory black, cadmium red deep, ochre light, titanium white), amazing how versatile it can be.
I add a progress photo aswell. More of my paintings and drawings on my instagram -> https://www.instagram.com/timokaharaart/

Hey Timo, nice portrait, good temperature differences, i like the flat lighting, great study. It looks nice although I wouldn’t be able to say if you capture the Mona Lisa smile since  I don’t know about facial expressions.

Nice job Timo. The secret of the Mona Lisa smile has a lot do with the sfumato effect Leonardo used at the corners of the mouth and orbit. The softness of the rendering creates a sense of ambiguity and mystery in the expression.
