    Interesting experiment! Looks pretty good to me.

    You mentioned that the watercolor falls flat… Is it that the paper is too absorbent or not enough?

    I have never used xuan paper before, and I am curious about the speed and permanence of the surface… given that it supports calligraphic brushwork so well.

    Thank you Ian, xuan paper is very absorbent, especially the type for painting. I probably should have used more pigment. The one people use for calligraphy is a little better.

    Thanks Ian! I applied water after the drawing. I used “Elegant Writer.” It’s a marker that’s somewhat water-soluble and bleeds in various colors.
