Day 61: charcoal on grained paper. So I did not post anything the last 2 days, due to being under the weather a little bit. So today I post 3 poses, all of them I did today. This one I keept quite simple
Day 62: charcoal on grained paper. Last one for today. Maybe a bit hasty, but I am on par now with my #100daychallenge!
Day 64.
And now for something completely different: charcoal and white pastel on pastel paper.
So I came across an artist called Derek Overfield and I just love his style. It is so expressive, raw, pure and alive. So I gave it a try today to mimick his style.
Day 67: charcoal on grained paper. I am experimenting with my approach again. I started with a gestural mass in (very lightly) and then massed in the shadow shapes and defining the body parts with line work, leaving the rough gestural mass untouched. Gives a kind of energy that I like.
Awesome. I love to see when artists combine solid construction and gesture with more painterly charcoal techniques. Generally the artists who are great at the latter aren’t strong at the former so I think there’s a lot of room there to do amazing work.
Day 68: charcoal and white pastel on pastel paper. Small study today. Focussing on line work.
Day 69: charcoal on grained paper. Another quick study. Since I missed the deadline of yesterday, I will post 2 studies today.
Day 70: charcoal on grained paper. Kept it loose, trying to detail as little as possible
Day 72: charcoal on grained paper. Experimenting with drawing style. Haven’t found it yet…..
Day 73: charcoal on grained paper. Could not post the last few days due to no internet connection, so here is my backlog of drawings for those days.
