Nice improvement. Focus on that Z axis going right into the picture plane. In your last figure that left foot is closer to use than everything else. As the foot moves into the leg and then into the torso we need to feel that we are moving backward into space. Overlaps, proportions, corners, the direction of the lines all contribute.

I tried to focus on this today, especially with the arms in this pose. I realized I’m having trouble telling how legs especially are rotating toward / away from the picture plane. I ran out of time before trying that this morning – but will focus on it for the next few days.

Day 65
My focus today was the perspective / foreshortening of the arms and legs. Comparing this to the reference after scanning it – looks like I needed to shorten the front leg and back arm even more! The leg also caused proportion problems since I was using it as a landmark for the back leg / front arm.
Day 66
Struggled with the front arm (esp. shoulder connection) and the right leg, which left the figure looking imbalanced. I think I had the leg placement better in the gesture, but lost it trying to figure out the foreshortening.

You’ve got a really cool texture to your drawings! I’ve seen a lot of pencil and charcoal drawings(including some of my own) where the texture is way too fuzzy and overpowers the drawings, but yours have a nice energy to them! I would really recommend trying these with a dry brush and some ink on them if you are interested in pushing the textured lines further. Great work!
