Day 61 part ii. Another ink sketch – this one started with a graphite ‘wash’ first to block out the areas. Interesting technique. I admit I had to stop after this as I’d been going for 90 mins which is way longer than I normally draw for. I felt I got into the zone better though so perhaps I should aim to do this more often 🙂

Not much drawing here, but hey, I picked up the pencil. TBH the MM sessions were not really known to me – only in a kind of periphery kind of way. I’ve been so maxed out in the last few months that I didn’t follow them. They look good and I’m going to dive in – it’s like a regular lesson, when you can ask questions and participate. I just got Harold Speed’s book which Joshua mentioned (see I wrote it down like a model student!) Ha ha. What’s funny is that I had this book on my wish list for a long time and only ordered it along with a few others before realising it was in these notes. Funny. Life is full of happy coincidences, serendipitously 🙂
March 3, 2021 at 3:14 pm #1241512Also just realised that Joshua noted the ideal lighting rig there in the notes above. I need to source another light as I’ve only got one at the moment…

Eye studies for Master Monday. Found this really hard, but for a rank beginner like me they don’t suck too badly. I need to do more of these.

Great book. Oh my! The poor guy front on doesn’t bear too much relation to the side guy. I need to redo this with a clearer head until it’s right. I need to study the neck/head composition more carefully – all my guys turn out like no-neck rugby players.
