We are pleased to share with you a 10-week long class brought to you by Art Mentors. In this class, Master draftsman Glenn Vilppu teaches constructive head drawing. In this 6th lesson, Glenn works with toned paper, controlling values using the paper itself as a midtone. Glenn later shows how to design a nose by laying in various tones and finishes with a 15 minute head demonstration.

    Materials

    • Toned Canson Paper
    • Faber-Castell Pitt Pastel Pencil – White
    • Caran D’ache Supracolor II Soft Aquarelle Pencil – Brown
    • Digital Tablet

hi. these tutorials are great, however no material about the poses / models are included in the page. As a result we can only try to draw from the small view of the model as glenn draws it for 80% of the lecture series. Would appreciate if good quality photos are included as done in other tutorials… unf

There should be model references for every lesson. Some got lost during the migration of the old website to the new. We will check this and add references.

The transcript at the end of Chapter 4 has Mr. Vilppu’s last remark as “(inaudible)” I believe he states “There actually were two brothers.” This is a reference to the Leyendeckers.

He broke his white pencil tip. Didn’t say a word and took the broken tiny tip to finish what he was doing. That made me laugh!
